Mount scored the Rams’ equaliser and they went on to win 2-1 at Reading despite a poor performance
Chelsea loan star Mason Mount was Derby’s shining light as they won 2-1 at Reading on Friday evening.
The Rams’ Championship opener, and first competitive game under new manager Frank Lampard, didn’t go to plan as they put in a largely poor performance and were bailed out by Mount and Tom Lawrence.
Mount celebrated his goal in front of the away end of Derby supporters
The Blues’ 19-year-old midfielder will be a Ram for the 2018/19 season after spending his last campaign at Vitesse.
He recorded 14 goals and 9 assists in Dutch football last year, and introduced himself to his new fans in perfect fashion.
With Derby 1-0 down, the result of a strong Jon Bodvarsson header, Mount drove home a 25-yard equaliser which Vito Mannone realistically should have handled for the Royals.
