Claims that Chelsea Football Club will be sold to Britain’s richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe have resurfaced on Twitter on Saturday night.
The Secret Footballer’s Twitter account made the astonishing claim that a deal thought to be in the region of £2billion is currently being done.
The well-respected account has over 100,000 followers and is also an award-winning author.
However, sources close to current Blues owner Roman Abramovich have said to SunSport the club is NOT for sale.
Abramovich bought Chelsea for £140million in June 2003 just after the club narrowly avoided going into administration.
The Russian has since built the Blues into one of the biggest clubs in world football by attracting a number of star-studded players to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have won 17 trophies under Abramovich’s premiership including five Premier League titles.
However, ongoing issues with the Russian’s visa has put his position in increasing doubt but he appeared to reaffirm his status as owner when Maurzio Sarri was appointed Chelsea manager earlier this summer.
In June, the Daily Mail reported that Ratcliffe, the founder, chairman and majority owner of chemicals firm Ineos, had offered £2billion to buy the west London club.
Ratcliffe is reportedly worth £21billion according to The Sunday Times’s rich list in May.
